Hecatomnus was indeed the father of Mausolus, also known as Halicarnassus, who was a satrap of ancient Lydia and a king of Caria. According to legend, Hecatomnus was buried in Milas, which was the capital of ancient Caria, and his tomb was said to be filled with treasure.
